YoungLives

What we’re about:

YoungLives is a ministry that shares the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ with young mothers by walking alongside of them and building relationships.

Through traditional Young Life activities like club, camp, and Bible study, YoungLives mentors come alongside young women in a way we believe Jesus would do: with compassion, support and hope.

When teenagers become parents, many lack adequate support or struggle to find a place to fit in and are left feeling lonely or ostracized. The YoungLives group is not only a space for connection, but also a place where they can belong, be respected, and be known and loved unconditionally.

YoungLives has a weekly presence in the teen parenting class at South Lake High School, a non-traditional school in the Rainier Beach neighborhood.

How we do it

MENTORS
YoungLives teams up with mature Christian women to provide these young moms with timely encouragement, guidance and ongoing support. These caring women model Jesus Christ’s love by investing time and walking alongside them through their life situations.

CLUB
Once a month, YoungLives club provides a place for young moms to come together to have fun, build friendships and hear a message about real life and God’s love. Food, activities, music and childcare are a part of every club meeting.

CAMP
Teenage mothers can attend a YoungLives camp with their children at one of Young Life’s camps. Set in beautiful surroundings and packed with adventure, young moms are given the opportunity to experience all the fun their peers do. From the pool and zip line to the ropes course and the pamper pole, there is no shortage of excitement. During camp, the young women get a break from their everyday schedules — thanks to childcare volunteers who look after their children. Teen moms get the chance to relax, play and learn about God and His plan for their lives.

Partnership Opportunities

There are pregnant and parenting teenagers in your backyard who are desperate for love to walk into their cafeterias, their doctor's appointments, their homes ... their lives.

MISSION SUPPORT TEAM
A group of committed adults who support the ministry in various ways.  This committee is dedicated to pray, network, raise financial support and come alongside leaders. Who can serve? Men and women, married couples, those with a passion for the Rainier Valley and its youth.

CHILDCARE
Who can serve? Men, women, teens with an adult, high school kids looking for service hours. Come once or once a month!

MEALS
Many of the teens and children we serve may only have one complete meal a day. This is a great opportunity for your family, friends, church, or small group to provide a balanced meal for our teen moms, their children, and mentors at our monthly club.

NANNY AT SUMMER CAMP
YoungLives hosts camps during the summer. Volunteers are needed to serve mothers and their babies as the “special forces” work crew. The crew will give young mothers a model of Jesus’ love by caring for their children so that they may enjoy the best week of their lives and hear about the hope found in Christ.

PRAYER WARRIORS
We need people praying for all facets of this ministry. Can you commit to praying for the young moms and their children and all the different parts of this ministry?

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
YoungLives relies on the generosity of its financial supporters in order to provide life-changing support to young moms and their children. Your financial investment in Rainier Valley YoungLives will yield an eternal return as generations are transformed. Consider making a one time or reoccurring monthly donation to this vital ministry.
